Sextortion is relatively new phenomenon in the online world. This refers to situation when you meet someone online who is not telling truth about who he/she is. His/her goal is to gain your trust and persuade you to send him/her your naked photo or some other material that he/she can later blackmail you with. After you send your photo, or some other material, the person starts to blackmail you and ask for money by threatening that he/she will share your photo with everybody at your school, your parents etc. if you do not send money. But even when you pay, it is very likely that blackmailing will continue.

If you have something like this happen to you, talk to your parents/guardians immediately or with some other adult you can trust! Think twice before you share your photos with anyone! Persons you meet online, that you don’t know in real life, can be anyone! Never send money if you get in situation like this, but report the case to the adult you can trust or call HelpLine!
